Tacos have been a part of American (and wider Western) cuisine since the early 1900s – in San Antonio a group of women called the Chili Queens sold tacos out of carts at the start of the twentieth century, and the business really took off when the railroad started bringing in more and more tourists to the area who loved trying out Mexican food.
Since then the love affair with Tex-Mex food has gone from strength to strength – Americans reportedly consume over 4 billion tacos each year; and the world’s biggest taco was made in 2011, and was a whopping 246 feet long!
As tacos are incredibly versatile and can be used for any occasion or time of the day, Christmas is the perfect time to bring out the taco shells to hoover up the Christmas Dinner leftovers, as well as enjoy them with the next superfood, jackfruit!
