It’s the seventh day on our advent calendar already – definitely time for another sweet treat with a fruity Christmas Chelsea Bun!
The Chelsea bun is a traditional British treat is made with with currants, brown sugar, and butter before being sculpted into a square- or round-shaped buns. Think of Princess Leia’s iconic hair do and you’re not too far away from a proper Chelsea bun shape!
After baking, Chelsea buns are normally coasted in a sugar glaze of various flavours – rose water, orange or just good old fashioned icing sugar are popular toppings of this British bun. Chelsea buns date back to the 18th century and were created in the Chelsea area of West London by the Chelsea Bun House, which was a favourite haunt of the British royal family.
